Worshop on Adverse Effects of Irresponsible Alcohol Consumption held

Lucknow: A stakeholder consultation program on the adverse effects of irresponsible alcohol consumption was organized  at Hotel Gomti, under the joint aegis of Consumer Voice, Delhi, and Consumer Guild, Lucknow. The program was chaired by R.L. Rajvanshi, State Excise Officer, Uttar Pradesh.

The program featured prominent speakers, including Dr. Bharat Raj Singh, Director General, School of Management Sciences (SMS), Dr. Akhilesh Kumar Nigam, Inspector General of Police, Crime Investigation Department, Uttar Pradesh, Lucknow, Jalaj Mishra, Retired Regional Excise and Social Upliftment Officer, Hemant Upadhyay, President, Consumer Voice, New Delhi, Dr. Praveesh Dwivedi, Director, Samarath, and Manish Agarwal, Vice President, ASSOCHAM Uttar Pradesh.

The speakers discussed the adverse effects of irresponsible alcohol consumption on consumers, including social, economic, and health aspects. The program aimed to build consensus among stakeholders to continue the campaign to make consumers aware of the dangers of alcohol consumption.

The program highlighted that alcohol consumption poses the greatest risk to young people, affecting their work capacity and overall well-being. According to a survey report, 16 crore people in the country and 4.2 crore people in Uttar Pradesh consume alcohol.

The program was conducted by Abhishek Srivastava, Advocate, President, Consumer Guild, and experts from the health department also participated in the program.
